About Our Program
The Agriscience Program at Lakewood Ranch High School was established in the late 90's. The program has continued to grow and expand with each year. Our program is a two teacher department offering multiple pathways in various agricultural industries. We focus on hands-on learning through labs and our outdoor facilities. The land lab has a six stall steer barn, six stall swine barn, a greenhouse, shadehouse, two pastures, and large garden space. Currently there are four heifers, three cows, and three calves on our pastures. We also have a working forty acres of pasture on Lakewood Ranch Blvd with a herd of cattle that helps support our program. Our Horticulture Pathway works closely with local industries to propagate plants and develop business relationships. The Agritechnology Pathway exposes students to the business and mechanics side of the animal and plant industries. Our newest pathway, the Animal Science Pathway exposes students to the animal industries through hands-on experiences. Each pathway offers something different for our students, which is what makes our program strong.
